Intermediate Certificate in Supervising Health and Safety

Who Should Attend?

This course is aimed at proprietors of small businesses, managers, supervisors, team leaders and   anyone else who has a responsibility for the health and safety of others in the workplace. It is also   appropriate for those who are considering progressing on to the Advanced Certificate.

Benefits of the Course

On completing this course candidates will be able to:
• demonstrate an understanding of the main concepts of health and safety;
• show awareness of the benefits of health and safety culture;
• explain the roles and responsibilities of individuals, supervisors and management in health and safety;
• Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety control and improvement strategies available to supervisors.

Duration 

The duration of the course is 18 hours (3 ½ days) and we usually run the course one day a week over 3 weeks, with the examination on the morning of the forth day, or over 2 weeks, 2 days + 11/2  days. We usually aim to start the course at 9.00am each day and therefore taking into account time for refreshment and lunch breaks, the course usually finishes around 4.30pm each day.

Venue

Courses may be held at your premises. We appreciate that it is sometimes difficult to release staff on training courses; therefore we offer the flexibility to hold the course either on three consecutive days or one day a week spread over three weeks. We also regularly run “open” courses at centralised locations.

Assessment

There is a 60 question multiple-choice test and candidates are required to achieve 66% or more in order to receive a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety. Candidates who achieve a score of 85% or more will be awarded a credit pass. Examinations are also available in Cantonese and Bengali.
