CORPORATE MANSLAUGHTER - CPS takes second case

Storage products manufacturer Lion Steel Equipment has become only the second company to face a charge under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007.

The charge follows the death of Steven Berry from injuries he suffered when he fell through a fragile roof panel at Lion Steel's site in Hyde, Cheshire in May 2008

The CPS have said that three of Lion Steel's directors, have been charged individually with gross negligence manslaughter.

As well as the corporate manslaughter charge, the company is accused of breaching s2 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 under the vitue of s37
